Jer Dee’s show, Spectre, is a gestural record of his epiphanies, shaped by recent life events. This calligraphic body of work captures Jer’s intimate encounters with his own humanity, translating them into shorthand pictography.

Jer takes a departure from his previous work — known for its calculated geometry, gradient swathes of color, and precise linework. In Spectre, he distills the color spectrum into streaks of black ink, replacing his controlled lines with rhythmic, free-flowing marks.

Spectre represents Jer Dee’s attempt to exorcise light from his memories, rendered in one of the darkest pigments available. In doing so, he captures the ghosts of his past in stark, high-contrast imagery. The work offers visual suggestions rather than strict representations—non-reliant on realism or three-dimensionality, but trusting in our eyes’ ability to gleam at brush strokes as legible forms.

For his third solo exhibition, Jer Dee places his narrative in the hands of muscle memory, allowing his body to remember what his mind cannot.
